Star Wars!

This is the Star Wars cake I did for a man's son at work. He told me that he loves Star Wars so I made Yoda and R2-D2 and Light sabers. I also wrote around the bottom "The Force is Strong with Evan." I hope he likes it! It's a white cake with buttercream frosting. The black is buttercream and the blue is fondant. All the accents are fondant.

A baby shower and three birthdays!

This is the cake I did for Beth's baby shower. This is cake one of FOUR that I made last Thursday. Needless to say, I didn't get to bed until well past 2:30am. I was quite pleased with all of them, though, and the recipients sure seemed to like them, which is the best part!

This was the cake I did for my brother's birthday. Stewie turned out alright, but he could have been better. It was a banana cake with cream cheese frosting. Overall, I liked the cake.

This is the cake I did for my cousin Tony. He wanted a Texas Hold 'em table. It was also banana with a cream cheese frosting.

And this is the cake I did for my Uncle Mike. I'm not sure why the picture won't turn, but it's being stubborn. It turned out awesome and I really liked it and so did he : )

Happy Easter x's 2!

Easter cakes! I made an Easter cake for work (the one with the chick) and an Easter cake for when we go to our friends' house for Easter dinner (the bunny cake). They both turned out really well and I am quite happy with them! I even got to try some new things (i.e. the curly cues on top of the cakes, the cut out bunnies, the bunny and chick on the tops of the cakes). Overall, I feel like I'm getting progressively better. The hardest part for me is getting the main layer of fondant on the cake over the icing; it's a pain!

Oh well. ENJOY and Happy Easter! : )

Cake #4

This cake went pretty well. It is a practice cake for a cake I will be doing for the daughter of a woman I work with. She told me that she loves pink and green and polka dots and that they are going to Disney World for her birthday, so I went with it. I'm glad that I am doing these practice cakes and trying different techniques so I know what I have to do to improve for the next cake.
